USAID Releases EPI Cost-Effectiveness Analysis Report

 

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA, September 26, 2018 — The US Agency for International Development, known as USAID, recently released a cost-effectiveness analysis of the Reading Enhancement for Advancing Development (READ) program in Bangladesh. The project is administered by Save the Children International and was designed with the objective of “Improved reading competencies among grade I, II, and III students in selected READ schools in selected districts.”

The four-year study was conducted by the Educational Policy Institute and directed by Dr. Christine Harris-Van Keuren, Dr. Brooks Bowden, and Dr. Watson Scott Swail. The study involved three primary objectives: to identify the relative effectiveness of READ’s intervention taking cost into account; to build up the capacity of READ staff on Cost-Effectiveness Analysis (CEA); and to set a standard and methodology for future work on CEAs.

Due in part to the findings of this effort, Save the Children International has incorporated the following into their Community Reading Camps (CRCs):
